Stove In medium saucepan, bring 1 cup water or milk to a boil. Whisk in ½ cup oatmeal and dash of salt. Reduce heat; cover and simmer 15–20 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat and let cool. Microwave Combine ½ cup oatmeal, 1 cup water or milk, and dash of salt. Stir well, cook on high 2½–3 minutes.
